Summer is in full swing by now. The days are hot and sticky, the nights are cooler but still a bit uncomfortable. The temptation to spend the days swimming away in the waters near Rabbit Island is strong. After all, everyone has worked hard, so why not take a break? Summer is the best time to go swimming, especially during the daytime hours when you can see straight to the bottom of the shallow areas.

Much has been accomplished in the last month. The food storage building is looking much more secure, and just in time too: it won't be long before the farmland can be fully used to grow food for everyone, and you'll need a place to keep all your vegetables. Cold storage is still a ways off, but this is a good start.

The defenses have improved too. After a thorough check, the island has been verified to be troll-free, which pleases your local NPCs greatly. A safe island is a happy island, after all. And with two of the sea nets fully functional, the islands are that much safer.

Finally, repairs have been completed on one of the houses. It looks a bit too small for everyone to move into, so you'll have to figure out a way to decide who gets to live there. But with the experience of fixing up this house, further houses should be easy to repair too.

All in all, it's been a good month. Even the nighttime screaming from the Silent World seems to have disappeared for now. Hopefully the peace and quiet will last. Maybe enjoy it while you can? Things can change in an instant here, after all.

I mean, probably eventually. But I don't know where. There aren't very many people, so at least I wouldn't be hoarding.

I'm not picky... either... Lived outside... ages now... Like the company... in town... but maybe... i'll live further away... What would you... look for?

I dunno. By further away, do you mean like on the farm? The stuff there seems in better shape, and if you're good at farm work, that might be convenient for you.

[ghoulserrand]

[He makes a noise.] Would be... convenient... but I'm not sure... I'm a farmer... [Rather, he's not sure he should be in charge of the food. But, he gestures to the bow and arrow set he's put to the side. Not exactly an animal caretaker.]

Hmm. Maybe we can build something where there weren't any houses before? After we're done fixing the ones we have.

[ghoulserrand]

You don't think that... might be too much... effort? For me, that is...

[maidofmistakes]

Hey, we'd all help, wouldn't we? I mean, unless you don't want, but I think people would...

[ghoulserrand]

[It feels like he's tricking them. Working and helping out, talking with them, that's one thing. Enlisting their help for some specifically for him when he knows he's a threat to them, that's different. They wouldn't do it if they knew.] Maybe... if everyone's settled... by then...

[No. He'll sooner go back to the woods. It would be probably be safer. But it's nice to think what it might be like otherwise.]

I guess we do have a lot of work to do before then. Sorry. I hope we're not causing you too much trouble.

[ghoulserrand]

[His hands rise up, off his work, as he goes to wave them.] No... No, not... at all. No trouble... Nothing like that... This place is... a nice change...

Huh... Okay, as long as you're sure! We'll have this done in no time. Or, uh, some time, since I can't use my powers too much here without getting tired, but you know what I mean.

[ghoulserrand]

[He gives a thumbs up. No time! Definitely!] Just don't... wear yourself out... too much... [He's in no rush.]

...You have some impressive power. It's good that you're so aware of it, and that you try to use it responsibly.

Was that something you were practicing, at your school? Controlling your strength.

[maidofmistakes]

Yeah, I've been working on it. The same with my heat vision; it's really strong, but I can also just use it to heat up coffee that went cold.

[relictus]

[Heat vision...]

You have a particular set of... powers, then?

[maidofmistakes]

[She nods.] There's a bunch of things I can do. Everyone was normal back home, because our sun was different, but when I got to Earth, suddenly I could do all these things. Flying, super strength, super breath, super hearing, heat vision... that kind of thing.

[relictus]

[The sun explanation makes more sense to him than everything else, honestly-]

I see... that explains why you have difficulty controlling your abilities, if they weren't accessible before.

Practicing actions that require more deft use of strength- such as grooming the sheep- should help you get the hang of rationing your power.

[maidofmistakes]

[She carefully pats the sheep and continues to brush it.]

I'll try, anyway... I mean, yes! I will. I will definitely do that. Yeah.

[relictus]

You don't sound confident... I'm sure there are other tasks you could do if you're concerned about hurting the sheep- but so long as you keep training consistently, your control over your strength should improve over time until one day you won't have to worry about accidentally causing damage anymore.

[maidofmistakes]

I'm working on it, I promise. I'll keep trying, though. Especially since who knows what the limiters in this place will do... whatever they are.

[relictus]

...It would be best to not try and push those limits. Aside from making sure we still have enough strength when we need it, it might cause us harm if we try to force it.

So make sure to rest if you need to, as well.

I'll try. I've been sleeping when everyone else does, at least.
